Bgirl El La Katrina is the Co-Director of Breakin’ The Law: International Festival of Urban Movement (BTL).  She has been organizing and hosting jams since 2006. After hosting and organizing events and jams, she had to jump into the cypher.  She began bgirling in 2010 on a trip to Hong Kong to visit some of the bboys and bgirls who had come to participate in BTL years past.  She is a committed community organizer and that commitment fuels her passion to create experiences that bring people together, spark critical conversations, and build for the future of the culture.  El-La Katrina is all about the female dialectic in Hip Hop and hopes her work has played a small part in unearthing this narrative and moving it forward.  She feels blessed to have worked with communities in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Panama, Nicaragua, Bulgaria, Cambodia, South Africa, and all over the U.S.

El La Katrina works through multiple mediums to foster dialogue, expression, critical consciousness, and creativity such as:

The Word (Poetry & Spoken Word)

The Visual (Film, Photography, Jewelry, Screen Printing & Mixed Media)

The Movement (Breaking)

The Knowledge (Community Collaboration, Workshops, Grant Writing & Organizing)
